Hello Helen

Okay so it's 2 a.m. and I woke up dizzy. Here's why I don't drink: I hate being dizzy. That night I also didn't drink water tho cause we didn't have any and I'd rather be dizzy than sick from toxic tap water (I think). Jannis isn't into any of the 2 so he shuffled off (in a bathrobe) to the reception determined to get some bottled water while I stared at the starry sky—was that the Big Dipper? Probably not. Hard to focus on constellations when your stomach is plotting rebellion.
By 6:43 I was up for real. The gym was about to open so I decided to sweat out the alcohol and hydrate (they have a water dispenser ha!), a very efficient life hack. Rode the bike thing for a bit and watched the sky turn what I like to call a "gon be a good sunrise color" so I took a quick detour to the beach and tadaa we had a good sunrise.
A man with a serious looking camera walked by, and I (proud owner of a very bad phone camera) ended up asking about his camera and the pictures. He told me his facebook page and that he's just a hobby photographer from Belgium.
Between the rainbows (2) and clouds (157) and sun (1) the rain decided to have a comeback, so back to the gym I went. Was gonna do some lounges and crunches and what not, but my knee decided to act up, so I abandoned those suckers and spent my time stretching and foam rolling (more painful. should have stuck to the lounges). Jannis was up by the time I got back.
Breakfast was excellent again. Bircher muesli 5eva, plus a new discovery: a pretzel. The sky was cloudy, so we decided to go on a bus to check out Arrecife (ehm, not sure if those houses are supposed to look like the backdrop of a zombie movie). We decided to create some distance between us and the film set and went up to a rooftop (Blue 17). If you're ever there (wouldn't recommend) don't get the mocca—but the view was nice.
(Finally) back at the hotel (love it there) We (Jannis, photo woman, I) scrolled through the photos from yesterday, debating which one was worth buying. They turned out surprisingly good and I couldn’t decide which ONE to get cause she wanted 20€ for a single picture and she wasn't gonna haggle.
Food called as it does every few hours and whether hungry or not. You go and you eat.
On my way back to the room I saw a woman who I had seen before a couple times hanging around one of the various bars, always by herself and last time I smiled at her and she didn't smile back which is not okay. She reminds me of my grandma (not because she didn't smile back, because of her look). So I decided to go over.
Here's how it went:
I went over to Helen (her name is Helen) and told her she reminded me of my grandma. She smiled: "Oh, thank you, how lovely." She used to come to Lanzarote with her partner rip but he was picky and rather stayed in an apartment than a hotel. Helen was here alone on holiday. "People are always surprised!" she said.
"Love that. You’re doing it right. I’m sure I’ll see you around.", I said.
"Maybe we can get a coffee or a cocktail and have a chat in a bar," she suggested. "Would love that," I said. "Lovely to meet you," she added.
I literally ran back to the room to tell Jannis what just happend. Love a grandma (weird). May have been on the edge of crying.
Books in hand, we took coffee and tea outside. The pool music reluctantly lead us toward the sofas by the Belingo Bar as it sucked ass. After videocalling family we then walked along the promenade to a little Hippiehip shop (Hey Siri, play Bob Marley).
Worried about rain and the cold, I ended up wearing way too many layers, only for the next ninety minutes to be nothing but uninterrupted sun. On the walk back to the room, we grabbed two free all-inclusive non-alcoholic drinks and went up to our (hehe) balcony.
I rain showered in the rain shower and watched La que se avecina, which is now basically part of the day as well as Jannis' personality. You never know what you're gonna get and you might get surprised by "Antonio" yelling something while flailing his hands dramatically . Pre-dinner in, followed by dinner: sushi and every single kind of Asian food you can (or can't ) think of, basically eating for 100€, which felt justified. Dessert was every cake.
Then came the moment that I finally got to try the San Francisco cocktail, alcohol free thank you very much - it's basically every juice in a glass. Evening entertainment: the cringiest, worst magician ever. So we abandoned her quicker than she said tachán and went to the arcade : air hockey, pool, foosball. Magical
Eventually, we called it. La que se avecina playing softly in the background (well my background as I was have asleep the time we pressed play)
